He replaces Brison Gooch.
The Silverton Town Council appointed Fred Fasching to the town trustee position vacated by Brison Gooch in a 5-1 vote Monday night, Jan. 25, with trustee Pat Swonger opposed.
Five Silverton residents applied for the position — Matt Lanning, Bill MacDougall, Judy Graham, David Hale, and Fasching.
The trustees voted to make the appointment of Fasching, 43, effective immediately.
Fasching is the co-owner of Brown Bear Café and is a captain with the Silverton San Juan Volunteer Fire Department.
Gooch resigned from the Town Council in December, citing health reasons. Fasching’s seat and three others will be up for election April 6.
