Administrative move would assure firefighters are insured.
The Silverton Town Council and the San Juan County Board of Commissioners last week authorized a new inter-governmental agreement that moves “control” over the Silverton/San Juan County Volunteer Fire Department back to Town Hall.
The maneuver came after officials raised the alarm, questioning whether the fire department has had adequate liability insurance.
