Fresh produce to be brought to Silverton
Thanks to Care and Share Food Bank and The Colorado Garden and Home Show, San Juan County has been awarded three shares of a Montrose farm’s produce. 
Each week boxes of produce will be picked up in Montrose from The Circle A Garden and brought to Silverton to be distributed to participants.

Presidential Photo Train coming May 1
The first regularly scheduled Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad passenger train of the season is scheduled to arrive in Silverton on Saturday, May 8, but a special train will be pulling into town this Saturday, May 1.
The railroad will conduct a Presidential Photo Train to Silverton on Saturday, May 1.  Rail officials said they do not want to take anything away from the official first train to Silverton on May 8, so the special train will be running only to the Silverton Wye and not coming into town.
Mammoth yard sale May 8 for preschool
The 2010 Annual Community Yard Sale to benefit the Silverton Family Learning Center will be held on Saturday, May 8, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The mammoth yard sale will be at the Silverton School outdoor basketball court.
Donations may be dropped off on the second floor of the Miners Unions Hospital. Large items can be taken to Joe Zimmermans' carport after mid-April. Donations are also welcome at the school yard on late afternoon Friday, May 7.

All-school reunion
planned June 25-27
The Silverton High School all-class reunion is scheduled for June 25 to 27, according to Sandra Voilleque Campuzano and her brother, Paul Voilleque, two of the alumni.
“This reunion takes place every years,” said Sandra. “We expect over 300 graduates to come home to celebrate, but we think there may be others out there we have missed.

“Paul and I are making a special trip to Silverton on April 22  to work on the details,” Sandra said.
“So far we are planning a night at the museum and the Castles in the Sky film on the Friday evening. A picnic in the Park with the Brass Band on Saturday and a  banquet at Town Hall on Saturday evening. A Sunday brunch at a local  restaurant is also planned.
“Many more things are up in the air,” Sandra said.
