The Silverton school district is struggling to hold its own amid dwindling state funding and rising costs, said School Superintendent Kim White, but she expressed confidence that academic programs won’t face unacceptable losses.
“Our operating budget is exceedingly stressed at the moment,” White said. “That’s completely separate from the building project — that has no impact on the academic budget.”
The school board is scheduled to adopt a 2010-11 budget at its June 8 meeting.
