Cemetery Volunteer Work Day June 19
The 17th annual Silverton Hillside Cemetery Volunteer Work Day will take place on Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. till noon.
This is an opportunity to help the town of Silverton maintain, restore, and preserve its wonderful heritage.
Suggested tools to bring: (put your name on them) limb loppers, hand-held clippers, shovels, rakes and pruning saws.
Following the work session, anecdotes of early pioneers buried in Hillside Cemetery will be shared. Bring a sack lunch, eat, and listen!

The cemetery fund is part of the San Juan Historical Society, and is used solely for the maintenance and upkeep of Hillside Cemetery.

Ambulance crew to check blood pressure
The Silverton Ambulance Association is offering free blood pressure checks this summer for the community at the ambulance association office in the Carriage House building.
The schedule is as follows:
Sunday, June 20, from noon to 2 p.m.
Sunday, July 18, from noon to 2 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 1, from noon to 2 p.m.
Sunday. Aug. 15, from noon to 2 p.m.
Sunday. Sept. 5, from noon to 2 p.m.
Sunday. Sept. 19, from noon to 2 p.m.

“So far we are planning a night at the museum and the ‘Castles in the Sky’ film on the Friday evening, a picnic in the park with the Brass Band on Saturday and a banquet at Town Hall on Saturday evening. A Sunday brunch at a local restaurant is also planned,” Sandra said.
“Many more things are up in the air,” Sandra said.
Fourth’s parade theme:
The theme for this year’s Fourth of July parade is “Silverton Heritage.”
The Silverton Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary is encouraging businesses, nonprofits and everyone else to enter a float.
First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in the youth division and the general entry division.
