Dispensaries to be allowed downtown
Medical marijuana dispensaries will be allowed to operate in downtown Silverton and the Economic Development zone in the southeast portion of town after the Town Council last week gave unanimous approval to its ordinance governing the establishments.
In a special meeting on Wednesday, July 14, the town trustees made a couple minor changes to the ordinance that was unanimously approved on a first reading in late June.
The ordinance is now in effect, though a state moratorium on issuing new licenses for such dispensaries kicks in on Aug. 1.
