A Theatre Group shows Sept. 23-26 at the Grand Imperial Theatre
A Theatre Group is presenting “The Women of Shakespeare,” a unique look at the queens, ladies, wives and witches of Shakespeare, performed by Tate Reaves of Silverton.
The performances are scheduled for Sept. 23, 24, and 25 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Grand Imperial Theatre.
Tate has performed since the age of 5. Her participation in A Theatre Group started with her internship two years ago, when she acted as Costanza in “Enchanted April,” and Captain Hook in “Peter Pan.”
She most recently played Suzan in “the Back of the Closet” during this season’s Playwright series. Other favorite roles included Nicole in “Playground” and The Nun in “Diversions.”
Her favorite Shakespearean roles include Queen Gertrude in “Hamlet,” Lady Macbeth in “MacBeth,” and lago from “Othelo,” in a gender-reversal play.
Shakespeare’s women play a very important role in making Shakespeare’s plays to timeless and universal. Tate breaks down and enhances our knowledge of the unique behaviors and means that the queens, ladies, wives and witches contribute to the relationships, scandals, and power.
As she performs 10 pieces she intertwines her background, knowledge and perspective in Shakespeare to make a spectacular theatrical night.
