Consultant finds positive trends but also strikes a cautionary note.
A checkup of the town’s finances by an independent accounting and consulting firm found Silverton in good financial health, but the firm did prescribe some changes in the way the town handles its money matters.
The review of the town’s finances was conducted by Clifton Gunderson LLP, an accounting and consulting firm with offices in 17 states. It was paid for by the state’s Region 9 Economic Development District.
The company’s review covering the last five years found that the town had been spending more than it brought in from 2005 to 2007, but managed to reverse that trend and increase spending, while revenue rose even faster.
