Final adoption of 2011 spending plan for Silverton set for tonight, Thursday, Dec. 9.
The Silverton Town Council, still struggling to come up with a balanced budget, approved a few changes in its spending plan in a special meeting on Monday, in preparation for final adoption of the town’s 2011 budget during a meeting scheduled for tonight.
On Monday, the council decided that it would not provide the San Juan Development Association any more than the $500 it already has allocated.
The council also dramatically reduced funding for Fourth of July law enforcement, despite a plea from Sheriff Sue Kurtz on the need for more officers.
The council also decided to keep the town/county building inspector’s job at 30 hours a week with health care benefits, but to assign the employee additional duties the town and county might come up with.
