A plan to develop an ATV staging area at the Silverton Lakes Campground will be the topic of a public hearing, probably at the Silverton Town Council’s March 28 meeting, with the first draft of an ordinance allowing the facility to be considered at that time.
Silverton Lakes Campground LLC purchased the campground last October from Outward Bound for $350,000.
The firm would like to use the eastern corner of the property to provide a place for ATV operators to gain access to Silverton, which currently has a ban on ATV usage.
ATV use in the Alpine Loop area has grown increasingly popular, but some ATV users have been complaining about the inconvenience of not being allowed into town.
