The Silverton Town Council moved forward Monday night to establish an ATV staging area in a corner of the Silverton Lakes Campground in an effort to make life easier for ATV riders and bring more of their business to town.
The council voted unanimously to approve the first reading of an ordinance that would allow ATVs an access point. And county officials have signaled their willingness to extend ATV access to the Lackawanna Bridge road.
“The county’s all for it,” said County Commissioner Terry Rhoades.
The staging area would be in a corner of the campground that has platted but unimproved town right of ways. The ordinance passed Monday to allow those imaginary streets to be used by ATVs is scheduled for a second reading and final adoption on April 11.
