Power outage here scheduled for April 27
Power will go out in Silverton on Wednesday morning, April 27, from 8 to 10 a.m., as San Miguel Power Association repairs equipment at the substation.
Jamboree fundraiser gets jamming Friday
Local talent hosted by the Silverton band SKU will be featured a a fundraiser for KSJC-Silverton Jamboree on Friday, April 22.
The event will be an Earth Day Celebration at the Stellar Bakery & Pizzeria, starting at 7 p.m.
Admission is $25 per person, $40 per couple. Drinks, serious appetizers included.
And free seed packets will be distributed.
Artifacts to be shown
to benefit food bank
A second showing of Silverton resident Paul Rathbun’s collection of Native American artifacts is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, at Silverton Jerky, 1121 Greene Street, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Donations will go directly to the food bank.
First Church plans Easter Egg Hunt, other activities
Here is the Easter worship schedule for First Congregational Church:
April 22 — Good Friday Service, 6 p.m.
April 24 — Easter Sunday Service, 10 a.m. Refreshments before and after service.
The Silverton Easter Egg Hunt and Games follows at 11:45 a.m., First Church. All are welcome. Bring a bag to collect eggs and prizes. Refreshments also available for adults. Come join the fun.

The Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce wants to remind the community that the town-wide yard sale — $Sale-ing In Silverton — is happening on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, so get your sale items ready.

Commodities to be
Commodities distribution will occur on Tuesday, April 26, from 1-3 p.m. in the basement of the Miners Union Hospital building.
Eligibility for this service must be determined prior to receiving the commodities. Any interested family needing an eligibility determination may stop by the Social Services office at the courthouse from 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, April 26. First Church moves back into sanctuary
First Church invites people on Easter Sunday as it moves back into the sanctuary after a long winter of worship in the Parsonage.
“We move into the smaller space for the winter so that the funds that we have can be utilized for the benefit of the community, rather than to simply pay for more and more propane,” said Dennis Kurtz, treasurer of the Church Board.
“Moving back at Easter is a resurrection celebration for us in multiple ways,” added Secretary of the Board Kelly Habecker.
Easter morning service is at 10 a.m. in the beautifully renovated sanctuary.
And don’t forget — Easter Egg Hunt and Games for all Silverton’s children at 11:45 Easter morning at First Church.
Chamber updating information kiosk
The Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce will soon be updating the information kiosk at 12th and Greene streets. The kiosk lists all Chamber members.
If you are not yet a member and are interested in becoming a member, please contact Rose Raab at 387-5654.
The Chamber also wishes to notify Summer-only businesses that are Chamber members that two summer-only board positions are available.

Chamber Round-up May 15 at Kendall Mtn.
Sunday, May 15, is the date for the annual Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce Round-up at Kendall Mountain Community Center.
Dinner is at 6 p.m., followed by the Bar D Wranglers performing at 7p.m. Dinner/Show Tickets are $15 for an adult beef plate, $10 for an adult veggie plate, $10 for children 4-10 years old, free for children 3 years old and under. Cost for the show only is $10.
Silverton’s Citizen of the Year will be announced following the dinner.
Community groups invited to take part
in farmers market
Silverton Farmers Market will be hosting one free community booth at each market day this summer.
The market will be held every Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. from July 12 to Sept. 27.
The market invites community organizations to use this booth as an opportunity to raise funds and promote your organization at a fun community event.
