Silverton San Juan Volunteer Fire Department members and fire
investigators for various insurance firms remove a stove hood from
the Pride of the West building on Tuesday, May 3, as the exact cause
of the April 6 fire in the 110-year-old building is investigated.
The owner of the Pride of the West building, which was devastated in an April 6 fire along with the adjacent Adelaide’s Antiques building, hopes he can save the structure, but that will depend on what engineers find and what insurance companies pay.
“I’d love to rebuild it,” Ken Boden said on Tuesday, May 3. “I have to determine — do I have enough money to rebuild?”
Boden said he needs an engineer to determine if the structure is sound enough to keep standing.
