Greg and Pam Swanson of Silverton watch on Thursday,
July 21, as roof trusses are delivered to their Adelaide’s
Antiques building on Greene Street. The building was
severely damaged in an April 6 fire. Greg said he hopes
to have start getting the building dried out later this week.
“We’re very happy to see progress being made. We hope
to be back in business next summer.”
 
Four Corners Praise Festival Saturday 
at Memorial Park
The Silverton Four Corners Praise Festival will be held on Saturday, July 30 starting at 9 a.m. at Memorial Park.
The theme for this year’s festival, sponsored by Just One Worship Ministries and Silverton Church on the Hill, is “Unity in Christ through Fellowship.
Live music will be offered and food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Admission is free.
 
Gospel Singalong Sunday at Town Hall
The Silverton Church of Christ its hosting its annual Silverton Gospel Singalong on Sunday afternoon, July 14, at 4 p.m. at Town Hall.
Refreshments and finger food will be offered and of course everyone is welcome to sing along.
 
Benefit concert to help Silverton School music program
The annual Silverton School Music Program Benefit Concert will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. at First Congregational Church at the corner of Reese and 11th streets.   
A free-will donation will be accepted during the performance. Numerous local musicians will be performing.  Everyone is invited!
 
Jamboree seeks help
for Aug. 26-28 festival
The Silverton Jamboree is coming to Kendall Mountain on Aug. 26-28, (perhaps) ushering in three days of love, peace and music to Silverton.
And better yet, those who want to volunteer to help out at the Jamboree can get free tickets for doing so, according to board member Melissa Childs.

This year’s Jamboree will feature a free Friday night concert and one on Sunday morning too.
“We want people to come up for the whole  weekend,” Childs said.
 
Town sales tax take up
Sales tax collections in the Town of Silverton are up 8 percent over 2010 through May, according to figures released by Town Hall.
The town nets a 5 percent on sales in Silverton, through a 4 percent county sales tax and a 1 percent town sales tax.
From January through May, the town has collected $168,416 in sales tax, compared to $155,874 in the same period last year.
 
Volunteers needed 
to hear life stories
Hospice Volunteers are needed in Silverton and surrounding areas to help patients “tell their life story.”
“It’s a rewarding opportunity to offer support, listen, be a friend to someone facing end-of-life issues, said Erin Youngblood of Alpine Hospice.

Dental clinic for kids planned for Aug. 3
The Southwest SmileMakers Dental Clinic’s  dental hygiene clinic will be in town on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Miners Union Hospital.
The clinic offers dental hygiene services for kids up to age 21. Medicaid and CHP+ insurances accepted, and a sliding fee scale for private pay.
