Public comment sought on high-alpine development rules
The San Juan Regional Planning Commission is asking for public comment concerning development in the high alpine tundra at its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
The planning commission is asking for comment so that decisions can be made as to whether further regulations are needed to limit development in the tundra.
Bordello Ball Oct. 1
The 12th annual Bordello Ball on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Grand Imperial Hotel will feature the usual — ragtime piano, casino games and some fine saloon girls.
The ball will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight, and will include some fabulous prizes to take home with your casino winnings at the live auction.
All proceeds benefit local kids through nonprofit organizations.
Enjoy an evening of reliving Silverton’s history — for a good cause. Period costumes are admired but not required. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.
Games include roulette, blackjack, and Texas Hold ‘Em poker.

Think about working up a big appetite Saturday night, Oct. 1. It’s Crawl to the Bordello Ball time again.
At least 10 restaurants will be offering their best selections to complete a hearty meal before the annual Youth-of-Silverton fundraiser at the Grand Imperial Hotel. And you’ll be helping A Theatre Group too.
Tickets are $10 each for the 5-7 p.m. event. They are available at the Grand Imperial Hotel, The Lookout Shop and the Silverton Visitors Center.
