Swonger ineligible to run as a Democrat, party officials rule
Silverton Town Trustee Pat Swonger, who announced that he is running for the Colorado House 59th district seat, is not eligible to run as a Democrat, party officials have ruled.
Swonger registered as a Democrat on Nov. 7, 2011. But Democratic party rules say its candidates must be registered as Democrats at least 12 months prior to the general election, which will be Nov. 6, meaning Swonger was one day late.
Swonger said he is still committed to running and hopes he can still run as a Democrat.
