Deadline for filing petitions to get on the ballot for the Town of Silverton's April 3 election is Friday, March 2.
With the deadline to file petitions to be on the town’s April 3 ballot coming up at 5 p.m. Friday, March 2, some 10 candidates have already filed petitions to run for Town Council and another two for mayor.
Trustee Jim Lindaman and Trustee Chris Tookey are the mayoral candidates at this point. Mayor Terry Kerwin says he is not running for re-election.
Running for three Town Council seats are incumbents “Outback” John Schertz and David Zanoni. Also running are Kevin Baldwin, Tracy Boeyink, Gary Davis, Mark Garvin, Matt Gotthainer, Malcolm MacDougall, Cassandra Papp, and Barbara Renowden.
Silverton residents not yet registered to vote have until Monday, March 5 to do so at the San Juan County Clerk’s Office in the County Courthouse.
The town’s election this year is being done by mail.
On Tuesday, March 20, Silverton high school students will again host the Candidates Night forum at Town Hall from 7 to 9 p.m.
