10 running for three Town Council seats;
two want to be mayor
The Silverton Standard and students in Kelly Habecker’s high school social studies class are teaming up to put on a Candidates Night Forum at Town Hall.
This year’s forum will be held on Tuesday, March 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Town Hall.
Candidates for mayor and town trustee seats will be asked to respond to four or five written questions presented to the candidates in advance of the session.
Students will also ask the candidates some questions submitted in writing from the audience.
The Silverton Standard & the Miner is again helping the students collect questions in advance of the forum.
Those who would like to submit a question in advance for all the candidates to answer may send it (by March 16) to:
Editor, Silverton Standard, P.O. Box 8, Silverton, CO 81433, or by e-mail to editor@silvertonstandard.com
Meanwhile, Town Clerk Brian Carlson said Wednesday that ballots will be arriving in Silverton Post Office boxes today (Thursday, March 15).
And ballots are also now available for pickup at Town Hall.
“You can pick it up and vote right on the spot if you like,” Carlson said.
Ballots can be mailed in or dropped off at Town Hall prior to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, April 3.
