Abandoned vehicle led investigators to discovery.
An abandoned vehicle near the summit of Coal Bank Pass led investigators to a body on Saturday, March 30.
An autopsy was being conducted Wednesday afternoon in Durango to verify the identity of the victim and cause of death.
Don Curnow, deputy county coroner and also a tow truck driver, said he had noticed the vehicle parked at a turnout at mile marker 55, just south of the Coal Bank summit, for a couple of weeks.
