First train pulls into town on Saturday

Celebration planned as first Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge passenger train of the season arrives at 12:15 p.m. on May 2.
The Silverton community welcomes the first Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad passenger train of the season on Saturday, May 4.
The train is scheduled to pull into Silverton at 12:15 p.m. As usual, the railroad will host a complementary continental breakfast in the Silverton depot at 10th & Cement Streets in Silverton from 10-11:30 a.m. 
And the Silverton Brass Band will play at the corner of 12th and Blair to greet the first passengers of the season.
On Friday, May 3, the annual Narrow Gauge Day celebration is in front of the Durango depot at 479 Main Ave. from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. 
In addition to a complementary picnic and a performance by the Bar D Wranglers, the railroad will have its newest piece of track maintenance equipment, a Tamper, on display for viewing. 
Some of the railroad’s Premium-Class cars will also be on display for the public to view and walk-through. Members of CarbonZero will be present to give away 300 tree seedlings that have been purchased by the railroad as part of the ongoing green efforts. And, Peanuts™ characters will make appearances throughout the event.
