Search continues for a new town trustee
The Silverton Town Council is still trying to find someone to join the town board.
No one applied for the vacancy left by the resignation of Cassandra Papp by the July 17 deadline, although Judy Graham, who ran unsuccessfully for a town trustee position in 2010, applied on Monday, July 22.
So the town has readvertised for the vacancy, with letters of interest due at Town Hall by Wednesday, Aug. 7, and the Council planning to appoint a trustee at the Aug. 12 meeting.
Whoever is picked would serve until April 1, 2014, the next town election.
65 applicants for town administrator
Town Clerk Brian Carlson said Tuesday that the town has received 65 applicants for the town administrator position, including a couple of local candidates.
The Town Council met Tuesday evening to try to come up with a list of finalists.
Carlson noted that under state open records law, the list of applicants must be kept confidential but when finalists are selected that becomes public record.
