A horse-drawn wagon with a capacity of up to seven adult passengers could soon join the town’s stagecoach line in offering short tours around downtown Silverton.
Dan Harris of Ignacio, said his plan is to have the rides start in the 1200 block of Blair Street, and proceed north to 14th, to Greene, to 15th, then south on Reese to 8th and back up Blair.
The idea is to go in the opposite direction of the existing “Just Horsin’ Around” stagecoach line in town, Harris said.
He also would like to turn around at the courthouse parking lot to give passengers a good look at the old jail, but was warned of the traffic hazards there.
The 15-minute rides would be offered three days a week — Thursdays through Sundays — from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Harris said the horse team will be equipped with “poop bags and remains will be disposed of properly."
