School registration scheduled for Aug. 21
Registration for students planning to attend Silverton School in the 2013-14 school year will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 8 a.m. until noon at the school’s Performing Arts Center (lower level).
Returning students are advised to complete and sign all paperwork. Bring insurance information, and money for fees/activities.
For kindergarteners and new students, complete and sign all paperwork. Bring birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, insurance information, and money for fees/activities.

Hillside Cemetery tour is Saturday, Aug. 17
The Victorian Aid Society of Durango will be offering its annual tour of Hillside Cemetery again this year as a fundraiser for the San Juan County Historical Society.
It will be on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 9 a.m. There is no charge for the tour, but we will be accepting donations for the SJCHS.
Meanwhile, for those who can’t get enough of local graveyards, “Our Railroad Pioneers,” a tour of Greenmount Cemetery will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m.
Actors in period clothing will tell the stories of pioneers from all over the world who brought train service to Durango and the Four Corners. Refreshments will be served prior to the tour. Participants should meet at the cemetery office parking area. The tour is free; donations will benefit the Animas Museum.
Trentini Celebration of Italian heritage
set for Sept. 1
The Silverton Annual Trentini Celebration will be held Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Villa Dallavalle Inn from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Belly dancing returns on Friday, Aug. 16
Join the ladies of Silverton's own Caldera Belly Dance Troupe for a fun evening of American Tribal Style dance at Silverton Montanya on Friday, Aug. 16.
ATS is a modern dance form that combines influences from Spain, India and the Middle East into a unique, improvisational format.
Dancing sets will be at 7 and 8 p.m. This is a family-friendly show and all ages are welcome. No cover!
