San Juan County has received a $309,283 grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs to help fund the construction of a new fire station just north of the Carriage House on Greene Street.
And Silverton Fire Chief Gilbert Archuleta said Wednesday that work on the project will be starting soon.
“We’re hoping to break ground in the next two weeks,” Archuleta said. The plan is to put in the water and sewer connections and do some grading of the site this year.
