The Old Truck, Car and Tractor Parade and Show drew a good crowd on Blair Street on Saturday, Aug. 24, with some 41 vehicles participating. It was a fundraiser for the Blair Street Historic District Association. Association members say they hope to make it an annual event. Rolling southbound on Blair Street is Carey Green of Silverton in his 1912 Model T Depot Hack, with Blair Street Association members on board.

Dillon’s Run Saturday
at Kendall Mountain
Dillon’s Run, in memory of Dillon Paxton, will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, with open registration beginning at 7:30 a.m., and the run starting at 9:30 a.m. at Kendall Mountain Recreation Area.
Registration can be done at www.dillonsrun.org or by contacting the director.
Entry fee is $35.
The event is a fundraiser for Silverton School to help students with athletics and academics.
Donations to Dillon’s Run are tax deductible.

Mountain Men camp on Blair Street
The Mountain Men will be camped at East 12th and Blair Street, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
They will give demonstrations of pistol loading, shooting, knife throwing, fire starting, and will have handmade lanterns for sale.
Colorfest Quilt Show Sept. 7-8 at school gym
Silverton’s Colorfest Quilt Show is scheduled for Sept. 7-8 at the Silverton School gym.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9.
Hundreds of quilts from around the country will be featured, along with unique vendors with fabrics, patterns and supplies.
Hourly door prices and a charity quilt drawing will be offered. Admission is $3. Proceeds go to local nonprofit organizations.
The Colorfest Quilt Show Sept. 7 and 8 needs volunteers during show time. If interested stop by or call Sig Martin, Silver Summit RV Park or Elaine, or Carol at the Visitors Center.
Fall Color Chamber Music Fest Sept. 13-15
The 2013 Silverton Fall Color Chamber Music Fest will take place Sept. 13-15 with two new events this year.
In addition to the yearly Jazz Cocktail Party at Montanya on Friday, Sept. 13, and the Chamber Music Fest Concert at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, Sept. 14, an “instrument petting zoo” and a piano, wind, and string master class, will be conducted on Sept. 15 at the First Congregational Church in Silverton.
Admission to the concert is $15 for adults, free for children, and admission to all other events is free.
