Standard to publish a day early next week for Thanksgiving
The Silverton Standard & the Miner will publish a day early next week, owing to the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
The Standard will hit newsstands and be mailed to subscribers on Wednesday morning, Nov. 27.

Gobble Wobble run 
to the Power House 
on Thanksgiving
 Don your most creative Thanksgiving outfit and join in Silverton’s Thanksgiving Day Gobble Wobble on Nov. 28, starting at 10 a.m., at Montanya.
Runners will commence the approximate 5K run from Montanya, ambulating up to 14th Street then down Cement, past Silverton Lakes and out to the Powerhouse, where they’ll turn around and head up the Cemetery Hill. They will then turn into the cemetery take the low road and loop up and out, then it’s all downhill past Memorial Park, back to Montanya!
There’s no fee and no official shirt but participants will receive a free Bloody Mary or juice depending on their age, and there will be prizes for best costume! Come on out and Wobble around before the eating begins! Sponsored by Montanya and Silverton Cable.
 
Thanksgiving dinner
at the Brown Bear
The Brown Bear Café and St. Patrick’s Altar Society will sponsor the annual Thanksgiving Day dinner for the community.
Turkey and fixings will be served at the Brown Bear Café from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Patty and Fred are hosting the dinner.
All are welcome to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring a veggie side dish or a salad to share with others.

Holiday Hafla Saturday, Dec. 7
Celebrate the spirit of the season with Caldera Belly Dance at troupe’s annual Holiday Hafla!  
This year’s Holiday Hafla will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 6-9 p.m. at Kendall Mountain Community Center.
“We will have light refreshments, great crafts for your holiday shopping needs, family friendly dance performances, and lots of holiday cheer,” said dancer Lisa Branner.

Christmas Bazaar
Saturday, Dec. 14
The annual Silverton Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the American Legion building.
The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post #14 Women’s Auxiliary.
Vendors may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m., and should contact Vicki Mahlios, 903-2147.

The Standard’s 2014 
calendar now on sale
The Silverton Standard’’s 2014 calendar has arrived, with many spectacular historic photos of Silverton, the San Juans and trains.
The calendar is an important fundraiser for the Silverton Standard newspaper, which is owned by the San Juan County Historical Society.
They are $9.95 each, plus $3 shipping.

The Silverton Standard is operated by the San Juan County Historical Society.
“By our calculations these calendars will also be perfectly useable in the year 2025, though some holidays may have to be changed,” Standard editor Mark Esper pointed out.
 
Discounts offered 
for early purchase of Kendall season passes
Kendall Mountain Ski Area is offering discounts for season passes, but only until Nov. 16.
The season prices will be:
 • Adult, $175/$150 early
• Child, $125/$100 early
• Senior, $125/$100 early
• Family local, $275/$250 early
• Family non-local, $325/$300 early. Season passes may be purchased at Town Hall.
