Yule Log Fest Saturday
The annual Silverton Yule Log Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Kendall Mountain Ski Area.
Children are invited to search for the Yule Log by following and gathering candy left by the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Hot cocoa and cider will be served. Bring a dessert to share!
There will also be caroling by the bon fire.
This year’s Yule Log Festival will be presented by Silverton middle school and high school students.
Caldera Dance Troupe Holiday Hafla Saturday
Join Caldera Belly Dance this Saturday evening for fabulous holiday shopping with local and regional artists, light refreshments, door prizes, and of course belly dance performances!
Their Holiday Hafla will be bigger and better than ever this year with new vendors and a few guest performers. Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at Kendall Mountain Recreation Center in Silverton.
Saturday, Dec. 14
The annual Silverton Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the American Legion building.
The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post #14 Women’s Auxiliary.
Vendors may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m., and should contact Vicki Mahlios, 903-2147.
Holiday dinner at Kendall Mtn. Dec. 14
The Silverton Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual Holiday Dinner for the community on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Kendall Mountain Community Center.
Please call now at 387-5654 to reserve your table for the dinner (8-10 people per table.) Tables will be decorated the day of the dinner beginning at 3 p.m.
Meat for the dinner is being provided courtesy of the Town of Silverton. Beverages will also be provided. All those attending are asked to bring side dishes or desserts to share.

to pay heating bills
The LEAP Program started on 11/1/13 and runs through 4/30/14, applications are available at the Social Service Office. Residents must meet eligibility criteria for this program which are available with the applications. Anyone interested in this program may come by the Social Services Office or call Deanna Jaramillo at 387-5631 with questions.
Energy Outreach Colorado has awarded San Juan County with a $16,000 grant to help cover costs of coal, electric, firewood, natural gas, oil, propane, and solid fuel pellets.
Residents must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for this program, which includes applying for the Low-income Energy Assistance Program first if you are LEAP eligible. If you are not LEAP eligible you can just apply for the EOC grant. This program runs through Sept. 30. Anyone interested in this program may come by the Social Services office or call Deanna Jaramillo at 387-5631 to get an application.
