The Colorado Primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, but interest here in San Juan County has been a bit underwhelming.
Deputy County Clerk Jane Edwards said that as of Tuesday, June 17, only 32 people had bothered to vote in the mail-in election.
The County Clerk’s Office mailed out ballots to 171 registered Republicans, 149 registered Democrats and three American Constitutional Party members. There are a total of 607 registered voters in the county.
Voters who have been unaffiliated since May of last year may declare a party preference and vote in the primary.
Those not mailing in returns may still vote at the County Clerk’s office through Friday, June 20. Polls will also be open on Tuesday, June 24, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the County Clerk’s Office.
