The second annual Dillon's Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, starting at 9:30 a.m. The one-mile loop consisting of a trail and dirt roads starts at Kendall Mountain Recreation Center. Runners are encouraged to complete as many loops as possible. This is a benefit run in honor of Dillon Paxton, who was killed in a tragic one car accident in 2012.
His lifelong thirst for knowledge and desire to help other people led to the creation of the Dillon’s Run charity, which helps local students pay for sports activities and educational advances, including post-graduation scholarships.
Registration is $35 for adults and $25 for students, and can be completed online or the morning of the run.

Benefit Saturday
for Mark Chacon
Friends and family are seeking donations for post medical expenses for Mark Chacon, lifelong resident of Silverton, following a severe case of pneumonia that landed him in intensive care for 10 days.
Following release from the hospital, Mark faces a long recovery during which he will be unable to return to such a high elevation and resume working.
Donations can be made at various restaurants around town, including the Shady Lady Saloon, Montanya Distillery, Handlebars, The Avalanche, The Grand Imperial, Silverton Liquors, and the Brown Bear Cafe.
A benefit party will also be held Saturday, Aug. 9 at Montanya starting at 7 p.m.
