Only one candidate — Patty Dailey — filed a petition to oppose Town Trustee Karla Safranski in the upcoming recall election, setting the stage for a showdown on Feb. 10.
In November petitioners submitted more than 170 signatures seeking the recall of Safranski.
The petition targeting Safranski lists seven reasons for the recall effort, including “voting to waste town resources in pursuing an agenda to terminate Public Works Director Gilbert Archuleta.”
County Clerk Ladonna Jaramillo, who is conducint the election on behalf of the town, said she hopes to have ballots mailed out to voters 20 days prior to the eleciton.
Voting will also be conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the County Courthouse.
The election will be conducted by the County Clerk’s Office.
