Church plans Christmas events
The First Congregational Church of Silverton is planning three special events for the Christmas season.  All are welcome!
• Dec. 20, 5 p.m., Community Christmas Caroling.
Join your friends and neighbors as we bundle up and stroll Silverton’s neighborhoods for some old-fashioned Caroling.  Meet at the Church Parsonage, 1060 Reese, at 5 p.m..  Music Folders will be provided for carolers. Return after singing for hot chocolate and Christmas goodies.
• Dec. 24, 6 p.m., Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Story and Songs.
Everyone is invited to First Church (1070 Reese) for a candlelight service on Christmas Eve.  Yes, it’s the OTHER BIG “C” of Christmas — “CHURCH”!
This promises to be a meaningful, fun, (and relatively short) service. We’ll share the Christmas story and sing a bunch of familiar Christmas songs.  Young and old, singles and couples, families and children, empty-nesters and not-ready-yets, miners, bankers, educators, and public servants, retireds and looking-for-jobbers, motorheads and tree huggers —
ALL ARE WELCOME!  Let's celebrate Christmas in the traditional Silverton spirit of unity!
• Dec. 25, noon to 3 p.m., Community Christmas Dinner.
First Church, along with the American Legion Post #14, welcomes everyone in town to a celebratory Christmas feast!  Turkey and fixings will be provided.
Contributions of additional side dishes or desserts are welcome, but not necessary.  Come by the American Legion Hall to share the holiday cheer with friends and neighbors.
