The Town of Silverton has decided to more actively enforce the town codes this summer and is seeking compliance from everyone in a timely manner.
“We are sending letters to those home owners and business owners who are in violation of various town code,s including abandoned vehicles, accumulation of refuse, nuisance, signage, etc.,” said Keith Thompson, Silverton’s code enforcement officer.
“Some people in the past who were cited for being in violation felt that they were being singled out or picked on, this is not the case,” Thompson said.
Since the code enforcement budget only allows for 16 hours per week it is impossible to enforce compliance from the entire town at one time, he explained.
A copy of the town codes are located at Town Hall for everyone to view.
Thompson said that if anyone has any complaints, questions or concerns they may contact his office at Town Hall.
“I appreciate everyone’s help and I look forward to working with the townspeople regarding these matters,” Thompson said.
