Forget Lake Powell! Lake Navajo is the best lake in the Southwest for waterskiing. Navajo is uncrowded, offers excellent water conditions, not too many rules and plenty of sunshine.
Navajo is remote, 50 miles from the small city of Durango. On weekdays you will have the lake to yourself.
The shoreline is rocky, minimizing boat wake reflections.
The low key atmosphere means that the Rangers are cool and not on a fun killing mission.
Camping had been uncrowded, but now the secret is out and in summer you nered to reserve way ahead of time for a prime spot.
