Silverton, Colo. -

Mother Nature will add one more challenge for the runners of the Hardrock Hundred Endurance Run this July 11-13.
The snow last winter was especially heavy, so much so that run officials were forced to consider whether or not it would be possible to even hold a run this year.
Over the past month, the snowpack has dropped significantly, but there wills still be enough snow on the course to make 2008  an especially challenging run.
The snow plus the 66,000 feet of climbing and descent at elevations averaging above two miles truly make the Hardrock live up to its moniker as “wild and tough” and one of the most challenging endurance events in the world.
Endurance athletes from across the United States, Australia, Germany, Belgium and France all will be converging on Silverton to test their abilities along one of the most stories courses in distance running.
Hoping o reach the logy height of 10 Hardrock finishes are Betsy Kaleyer of Colorado and Mark Heaphy of Montana. Ten-time finisher John De Walt, 73, of Pennsylvania, will be the oldest runner this year.
