A 19-year-old Durango man died on Saturday after falling into a stream that flows beneath a snow field he was walking on near Chattanooga, just below Red Mountain Pass.
“The man walked up the snow field and slipped on an incline into water underneath. His dog went in to help him,” Sheriff Bruce Conrad said.
