Christopher Higgins

It is with great sadness I announce Christopher Higgins (Chris) lost his battle with cancer on February 24, 2024 at the young age of 49. He will be missed mostly by his daughter Thyra age 6 and his numerous friends and family. Chris was instrumental in the operation of Kendal Mountain for many years and was best known for his kindness and consideration to all. A celebration of his life will be announced. No flowers please; any donations can go to his daughters trust at Citizens State Bank.

Anna Louise Girodo

Anna Louise Girodo, 88 of Durango Colorado, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side. Born Anna Louise Smith in Silverton, Colorado, in the Benson Hotel December 2, 1935 to Annie M. Anesi and John Smith, her brothers Otto and Louie Smith. Anna soon became known affectionately as “Sis” to everyone whom she was related to, or lived in Silverton. She was called Sis by everyone in school most people not knowing her by any other name. Unfortunately, Anna’s father, John, died when she was only three days old. She grew up in Silverton and lived at the Benson Hotel with her Mother, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Anna went to Colorado A&M, where she met her roommate Peggy. The two became great friends and soon moved to Greeley together to attend school at The University of Northern Colorado, where she attended school for two years.

Carolyn Louise Humburg 1938-2023

She was born Carolyn Louise Humburg on June 13, 1938, to Merrill and Dorothy Humburg. With her older brother Jay, she grew up in the small town of La Crosse, Kansas. She sometimes remembered herself as a tomboy, who liked to play baseball and could beat up a boy or two.

Elyse Dominca Parcell, better known as “Tiger Pussy” was known for her flowing golden locks, radiant smile, and pure passion for exploring the mountains. As a sixth generation Silverton and Durango native, her love for this region took the forms of skiing backcountry lines, climbing splitter cracks, and rafting white waters.

Ralph Reidel Weaver

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Ralph Reidel Weaver who died on September 16th, 2023, at age 88. He passed in Farmington NM, peacefully in his sleep. Ralph was born on Friday, September 13th, 1935, in McFee, Colorado which is now McFee Reservoir. He is proceeded in death by his mother Effie Irene Ferguson -Andreatta and Ralph James Weaver. He is survived by his brother, Mike Andreatta, his wife Charla, sister, Clara Jo Weaver-Howard, and half-sisters Bonnie Weaver and Joy Weaver-Criner. He was a loving and supportive father to his daughter, Erica Weaver-Schramm and her husband, Chris Schramm.

Born at an elevation above nine thousand feet in the Union Miner’s Hospital of Silverton, Colorado, in 1936, Pamela Chase Kucera seemed to have the majesty of the Rocky Mountains woven into her very being from the outset. She was the beloved granddaughter of Charles A.

Linda Samora (nee Gallegos), 69, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 430 pm. Linda was born on November 11, 1953, to Alva and Jake Gallegos. Linda grew up in Silverton Colorado and was one of 5 children. She graduated from Silverton High in 1971.
