  • The dog sled team used for filming is from Pagosa Springs, CO. The story follows the journey of the famous race to get vaccines to the town of Nome, Alaska. Dog sled teams ran over 700 miles to deliver the life-saving vaccines. While Balto became the more well-known dog from the journey, it was Togo who ran the longest distance and traversed the most dangerous terrain to deliver the diphtheria vaccine, saving the 10,000 residents of the remote town.
