New Outdoor Dining Standards and Bumpout Program

At the Town of Silverton Board of Trustee meeting on April 8th, before swearing in the newly elected trustee board, the outgoing board voted on an updated Town of Silverton Outdoor Dining Standards Guide as part of their old business and created a fee structure for any restaurant who wants to create a dining area in parking spaces and in the towns right of way.

Silverton Elementary Basketball The Silverton elementary basketball team beat Ouray 31 to 4 in a tournament game last Friday. Kids from second through fifth grade represented Silverton so well.

Silverton Youth Enters The USASA Race Circuit

Kendrick Keene, a local Silverton youth athlete, entered the snowboard racing circuit known as USASA Snowboard and Freeski. Kendrick, who is 14 years old, entered into the program midway last winter through Purgatory’s program, and this past March, he finished 10th in his division out of 68 competitors at the USASA National race event at Copper Mountain.

During the April 8th town council meeting trustee Jordan Bierma used his final moments as a trustee to make a statement to the board members and community. He expressed his disappointment in the council’s ability to effectively address community issues, and underscored the importance of community engagement in resolving pressing matters such as access to food, healthcare, energy, and housing in Silverton. The 2024 Town of Silverton April election had a voter participation rate of 63%. According to the Town of Silverton’s JUDGES STATEMENT OF BALLOTS DELIVERED AND VOTED - APRIL 2, 2024, document there were 739 Total number of ballots used, 637 Quantity of ballots delivered to voters, 402 Quantity of ballots received, 1837 Total number of votes cast, 67 Total number of spoiled ballots, and 102 Total number of returned/ undeliverable ballots.
