Surrounded by his family, Feliberto Emilio Lovato (Phil or Beto as known by many) went home to Jesus on June 2, 2020 at the age of 85.

Beto was born in Costilla, New Mexico on Christmas 1934 to Filiberto and Eduvigen (Vialpando) Lovato. Beto spent his childhood in Costilla, eventually moving to Silverton to begin his career in hardrock mining.

He loved Silverton and the mountains and especially loved being a miner. After he was injured in the mine and was unable to go back to work, he spent countless hours reminiscing and recounting stories of his working days, partners and mining in general.

In 1961, he married Chris (Segafredo) Lovato. They later divorced but the union brought four children, Christy (Michael) Watson) of Montrose, Gary (Paula) of Grand Junction, Karen of Grand Junction and Roger (Jodi) of Grand Junction.

Honored to have shared his life are grandchildren Jeremy, Jessica, Aaryn, Brandin and MacKenzie. His great-grandchildren are Adriane, Gabriel, Olivia, Scarlett, Alivia and Bane.

Beto had numerous brothers and sisters who preceded him in death, with one surviving sister, Alice Valdez of Costilla, N.M.

Funeral services are to take place in Costilla NM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Chuch at a later date.
