It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Ralph Reidel Weaver who died on September 16th, 2023, at age 88. He passed in Farmington NM, peacefully in his sleep. Ralph was born on Friday, September 13th, 1935, in McFee, Colorado which is now McFee Reservoir. He is proceeded in death by his mother Effie Irene Ferguson -Andreatta and Ralph James Weaver. He is survived by his brother, Mike Andreatta, his wife Charla, sister, Clara Jo Weaver-Howard, and half-sisters Bonnie Weaver and Joy Weaver-Criner. He was a loving and supportive father to his daughter, Erica Weaver-Schramm and her husband, Chris Schramm.

The light of his life was his grandson, Evan Schramm.

Ralph’s first job was selling a national newspaper, ointments, and other items, starting at age 11, to get a dime or two to go to the movies and/or get a pop and some candy with friends.

He worked for the city and county for a time and helped make some of the roads in and around Silverton. He is known for mining and started working in them at a young age. In high school he would work at the assay office bucking samples before going to school. He worked in numerous mines around the county including Standard Metals, Mayflower, Kittymac, Osceola, Shendoah and the Caledonia to name a few. When he was drafted into the Army he worked as a medical tech while on the base in Colorado Springs and drove an ambulance while in Korea.

Ralph will be remembered for his “Weaver Wit”! He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories about his friends and Silverton days. He had a great memory and could recite any information about the San Juan Mountains that he grew up in and loved. He was also a lover of animals, especially his dogs, and would light up like a child with delight when interacting with children and animals.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

There will be no service at the request of Ralph. Those who know him will understand.
