Summer is here at last.
The sun rises just above Kendall’s crown
and arches high over our valley
on its westward journey,
giving us a long, perfect day
with skies of deep cerulean blue
and air so clear and dry
that each tall spruce
stands out along the horizon.
The sharp granite peaks of the San Juans
are once again bare against the sky,
challenging the climbers and the hang-gliding…
