Dear Editor,

It is refreshing to read Nancy Brockman’s side of this story regarding the Phone Box placed in the cemetery not too long ago. Much of what is written opposes rumors circulating around that do not shed a positive light on Nancy or the Phone Box. The history of Silverton will continue to evolve along with it’s people, and I believe that the Phone Box will be part of that history. Furthermore, I believe it is a gift to all people, residents and visitors alike, which provides an outlet to cope with grief or just to reconnect with those they lost. In any regard, I am happy to see the facts, explanations, and statements out here for everyone to see, and have to say that I am in support of the Phone Box!

A lifelong professional writer came to Silverton to write an article about Community Builders and Silverton. (Weisman has written books, as well). Weisman wrote a great article from perspectives he gathered speaking with different people in Silverton.

Dear Editor,

In regard to the article in Thursday’s paper, “To the People of Silverton,” we, as local citizens of Silverton, just wanted to say that we love the phone booth and all that it represents. When we read the meaning behind the phone booth and learned all that Nancy is going through with terminal cancer, we couldn’t think of a better way for her to show her love for people and her town of Silverton. It is so maddening that people feel that they can bully someone the way that they have done to her when she did everything correctly to make her dying wish happen, it just didn’t suit their opinions. What a world we live in. Thank you for printing her article to the people so that people can know the truth.

Dear Editor, Silvertonstandard.com The remains of my parents, Paul and Freda Peterson, are buried in Silverton’s Hillside Cemetery. I was horrified to learn that a red phone booth has been placed in the cemetery directly in line with my parent’s gravestone.

Dear Editor, After decades of gghting over sheep grazing in the alpine environment, it is wonderful to see the Etcharts agree to partner with the ti Wildlife Federation and retire their grazing allotments. Nevertheless, risk remains as there are allotments that continue to be actively grazed in San Juan County.
