Baton Passed To New Board of Trustees

Monday night’s Board of Trustees meeting on April 8th was the passing of the baton and swearing in ceremony for the newly elected Mayor and Trustees. The previous Town of Silverton’s board finished up any continued business, such as unanimously passing Resolution 2024-12: A Resolution of the Town of Silverton to Establish a Bump-Out License Fee and Amend the 2024 Fee Schedule. This resolution will now include a fee to the restaurants in order for the town to recoup their incurred costs of the program. Followed by the Second Reading for the adoption of Ordinance 2024-04, An Ordinance of The Town of Silverton for an Amendment to The Official Zoning Map Rezoning Properties as Described in Exhibit A from B-A Business Automotive District to R-2 Multiple Family Residential District and updating the Outdoor Dining Guidelines.

SJDA Silverton Business Summit May 1st

San Juan Development Association will hold a Silverton Business Summit on Wednesday, May 1st, from 7:30 am to 11 am over at the Kendall Mountain Lodge, 1 Kendall Place. This first annual Silverton Business Summit is targeted for all types of businesses, including brick and mortar, online, and those who are interested in starting a business in Silverton/San Juan County or anyone just wanting to keep up with our economic trends and resources.

■ Silverton Creative District (SCD) is pleased to announce that planning is underway for Silverton Creates! 2024. Last year this well-attended weekend celebration of the arts encompassed more than 30 unique activities happening around town including art workshops and demonstrations, heritage tours, live music, a maker’s market, dance/ movement & theater arts, reading/ lectures, film, a pancake breakfast and more.

A Snowy Easter Egg Hunt

Nothing, not snow, damp, or wind, could deter Silverton kids from finding eggs this Easter Sunday! The Easter egg hunt was organized by Sterling Blankenship and held outside the San Juan Country Courthouse. A large flock came out in the storm to search through snow hills and icy ground in hopes of finding eggs.

20 Years Ago Fees for 911 service to hit $1.75/month Cellphone and land-line users in San Juan County will be paying an extra 75 cents a month to support enhanced 911 service, starting this summer. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission in January approved the rate increase.
